Welcome to The Olievenhout Farm Wildflower
Celebrating Indigenous Gardening and Sustainable Living
The Olievenhout Farm Wildflower Nursery is a retail nursery dedicated to growing and selling plants indigenous to Southern Africa. We believe that gardening is about more than just plants—it’s about ecology, biodiversity, and creating spaces that nurture life. That’s why we actively promote environmentally safe gardening practices and encourage our clients to attract birds, butterflies, bees, and other beneficial wildlife to their gardens.

A Nursery Rooted in Nature
Located in North Riding, our nursery is nestled among beautiful, mature indigenous trees, including a majestic Wild Olive Tree—offering a naturally shaded environment that not only protects our plants but also creates a tranquil, bush-like ambiance. This special setting often surprises and delights first-time visitors and makes every visit a serene experience.
More Than Just Plants
We understand that gardening is part of a larger ecological picture. It’s about caring for the soil, respecting insects like spiders and earthworms, and avoiding harmful chemicals that can upset the natural balance. That’s why we offer:
- A wide selection of indigenous plant species and hybrids
- Expert advice from knowledgeable staff
- Environmentally friendly gardening products
- A range of organic fertilizers and pesticides
We also produce indigeNews, an informative email newsletter, and host regular talks by experts on indigenous gardening, urban wildlife, and environmental issues important to gardeners.

Wildlife-Friendly and Welcoming
Our gardens are frequently visited by wildlife, such as the vibrant Amethyst Sunbird—especially during aloe flowering season. These visits are a testament to the habitat we’ve nurtured and the plants we grow.
